Learning more about Asperger’s and Autism
September hails the beginning of conference season when educators, professionals, parents and students converge to learn more about the latest research on Asperger’s and Autism. The Back to School Autism/Asperger’s conference kicks off Friday in Mesa, Arizona, featuring Temple Grandin, one of the most prolific writers on autism and a highly sought lecturer who herself has autism. The West Virginia chapter of the Autism Society of America meets starting today in Huntington, WV, for its “Climbing Mountains to Inclusion” conference. And in New York City, the Autism/Asperger’s Conference on “Educating and Healing Children” is set for Oct.3-4. These are just a few of the many gatherings held around the country and the world to raise Asperger’s and Autism awareness and to unveil some of the latest studies on the subject. If you can attend one , it’s well worth the effort. If you can’t, here’s an interesting video that focuses on colleges and students with Asperger’s.
